Shekeres'The shekere was one of the very first things I ever made from a gourd. I made my shekere from a nice thick gourd, and seed beads, rather than the traditional larger beads used. It was a unique gourd, and the sound was really cool. I took it to a Jan and Dean concert and got it autographed by the fabulous duo! Unfortunatly, when we left Indiana, it had to be left behind, and I am unsure if my daughter kept it, or if she gave it away with all the other gourds left behind. I never did take a picture of it, but have plans to make more like it one day soon, and will be sure to take lots of pics to post here.
