Awareness Ribbons

The red white, and blue ribbon you see below, was the start of a whole new concept in awareness ribbons. These ribbons were designed and created by me, Carmella Dunkin, and were a "therapy" to me after September 11th. Our family worked together in our kitchen, cutting, ironing, and sewing hundreds of ribbons that were sold at local stores, to raise money for September 11th victims.

From those ribbons, I designed a few more awareness ribbons with the same process as the Red, white and blue ribbons. A few are listed below, and others will be added as we acquire the cloth and ribbon needed to create them.

A little about the ribbons themselves...

These ribbons are made from cloth and satin ribbon. We hand make each of these ribbons from scratch (see pics below). We take cotton fabric, and cut it to size, then we iron it in half then fours, then we take satin ribbon and sew them together. We then put clear enamel on the ends of the cloth and satin ribbon to help prevent fraying. We also attach a white star, a Cross, or small bow to the center. Our Autism ribbons come with either a red, or blue heart patch, or a fire truck or spaceship patch, or a heart button. Which adornment you get will depend on what we have in stock.

Ribbons are approximately 4" high, and 2 1/2" wide at the bottom.

Ribbons are NOT available to purchase at this time.
